i have got a 98 volvo s40 1.8 gdi with the mitsubishi engine,it has developed a problem and im hoping that one of you guys has the answer. The car has started over revving, i pull up to the traffic lights and it can idle at 3, 4k revs and it will fluctuate between 1 and 4 when i pull away the car surges and if i take my foot off the accelerator it will carry on going. The only way i have found of stopping this is to disconnect the battery leave it for a minuite the re connect it and start the car and let it run for a minuite, it will then be ok for 1,2 maybe 3 days then i have to do the same again. I took it to a volvo dealer and they cleaned out the throttle body assembly and setup the base ide with a scan tool but this hasnt worked. Any help on this woul be much appreciated
