Default P0442 code

On my 2002 Volvo s40, the check engine light came on again. The code is
P0442. Can this be easily corrected by just replacing the fuel cap on the car?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It could be the fuel cap but it is likely a J-shaped vacuum line near the evap canister.

Okay, that sounds reasonable. What is the part number for the J-shaped vacuum line near the evap canister?

I have a 2002 s40 Volvo.

At least if that is not available, where can I buy a replacement for this part?

I really need an answer to this question. Specifically what is this part called?

I just can't go to an autosupply house and say give thing that is a J-shaped vacuum line near the evap canister.

Thanks in advance.

Dude, just go to a site like www.volvopartswebstore.com enter your car info and look through the diagrams until you find the part # and name of the part in question.

I did and I have the part ordered. The next question is can a basic mechanic (not a highly trained one) install this? It is called an Evap J-tube. I should have one in a few days. The next step is to replace the old cracked one and install the new.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have looked on Youtube.com. It seems for Volvos the evap J-Tube is either access from opening the hood and going in from there or getting under the car and getting to it from under the car. So for a 2002 Volvo s40 where is the evap J-tube?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
