Parking break handle and condensation on back windows
Hello.
I have a 2010 s40 for about 3 years and have always had little problems with the car. None that have required maitence work thank goodness. But one problem has continued and it's really starting to make me consider just trading the car in for another Volvo. Last year my back windshield has started developing condensation and when it has been really cold freezing completely on the inside. I have used a shop vac and sucked up and moisture I could find and even started keeping a piece of chalk in the car as I have heard that it will draw out moisture. I asked my local mechanic to look and make sure everything was sealed properly and he couldn't find a way that moisture could get in. Has anyone else had this problem? The only way I can think is that when I get in the car when it's raining water gets stuck under the rubber floor mats.
My second problem is that the piece of rubber that covers the parking brake handle cap fell off. I can't seem to figure out how they had it attached and Google has not been any help. It doesn't look like it was glued on or had anything to clip on. Should I just glue it back on? I'm going to try and post pictures but not sure if it will work IMG_3832.JPG IMG_3833.JPG

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

those problems don't sound major by any means. Have a look in the spare wheel compartment. I've read that water sometimes collects there over time.
Not sure about the plastic cover. I'd be tempted to lather it with expoxy glue and shove it back on.

I am hoping to trade in for an s60 soon. Want to have the car looking decent so I can get as much as possible for it.
Clogged or detached sunroof drains can let water inside the car. There are 4 drains total, one on each corner of the sunroof. Each can become clogged because at the end of each drain is a rubber piece with an X cut instead of a full round opening. This makes it easy for debris to become lodged. The 2nd reason is that the hose that connects to that rubber end piece is only stuck into that piece by about 1/4 inch. Any shrinkage or movement over time and it pulls free. Now the water that is supposed to drain onto the ground instead ends up under the carpet.
Another less common leak is the o-rings to the heater core. These leak coolant under your carpet. If you notice coolant smell inside the car and wet carpet in the back foot wells and unexplained coolant loss, then look at the heater core.
