Please help!! Cam locking tool broke inside camshaft!!
Hello im new to working on volvo's. My daughter has had a 2005 volvo s40 with the 2.4i B5254 S4 for a while now ran into some issues with a leaking head gasket. I did the research, watched a million videos, ordered all the parts and tools and thought I understood everything. Last night when trying to put the rear cam locking tool on one of the bolts broke off inside the camshaft before it even tightened up. I am not sure what to do next. Do I try and remove the bolt or does the whole camshaft have to be replaced? How do i get the timing right if I do have to replace it or if it does move? Any help would be much appreciated as I am needing to get her car back on the road as soon as possible.
Thanks
Thanks
If it threaded in easily to that point, then it may come out pretty easily. It's different when you're trying to remove a bolt that has been rusted in place for 40 years. This is new, and it's located where it couldn't rust.
So a basic response would be to get a left handed drill bit and start drilling the center of the bolt with your drill in reverse. Likely it'll back right out. If not, and you get a hole instead, you could use an "easy out" in that hole.

So I have tried left handed bits and screw extractors and I cant get the stubborn bolt out at all. Any additional ideas would be fantastic. I can get the timing done with out the locking tool. Will that bolt cause issues if I leave it in there or will I have to replace the camshaft.
