Default PLEASE help with suspension identification

Can some one PLEASE help me??? I've been at this for 3 days now and it's driving me crazy!!!!! I'm swapping out the stock springs for a set of H&Rs. When I placed the order for the springs I told the guy that I had a 2000 and that's all he asked me so I assumed he sent me the correct springs. He sent me H&R part # 29415-2 but when I took the old springs out the new H&Rs are NOT even close to the same as the stock ones as far as the mounting points are concerned. The H&Rs are MUCH smaller in diameter then the stock ones and the last coil on the top and bottom turn in tighter then the rest of the coils.

I have a 2000 S40 1.9T production date 09/99 and when I went onto the H&R site it shows 3 different options for a 2000 S40 all based on production date. I guess my question is would anyone know what the REAL differences are between the shock assemblies based on the production years and or vehicle phases "1 or 2"? If my car is in fact the very first phase it would be H&R part # 29763-1 as far as the springs go.

Would it be possible to keep the H&Rs I have (29415-2) and just get myself a set of shocks for the 2000-2003 model with a production date after 06/00? Would that set up fir my car? How would I figure out what the drop would be? Should I just get the springs for my production date?

Thanks for you help in advance,
John
