Exclamation Which power steering pump?

I bought a used one online and was told it would fit my car. Those guys were very nice and seems to know what they were talking about.

However, the top of the pump looks different than mine yet even the vovlo dealership gave me part number 36001211 which when I search online gives me two results.

I'm posting both pictures. Put the one where the fluid tank is right on top of it is the one I bought. What's the difference between picture one and two apart from the obvious point that one of the pump doesnt have the fluid tank right on top?

Help much appreciated

Thumbs up New PS Pump style for S40 and V50

It seems that picture #1 above is the new pump that replaced the old one (picture #2).

With the introduction of the new power steering pump, the separate fluid reservoir with delivery hose will be discontinued. The fluid reservoir is now integrated in the power steering pump. The cable harness is also
replaced with a new version.

Models: S40, V50
Year: 2004-2006

Power steering pump part # 36000116
Cable harness part # 30775461 (about $90)

Note: If you search for part number 36001211 and 36000116, you will come up with the same pump. The VIDA must somehow list both of them or probably the 2010 VIDA updated 36000116 to reflect 36001211.

I will post updates on the replacement.

Could this information be a sticky?

Also found out that after the new pump is installed, I will have to go ot the dealership and they will have to do a software update around $64.
