Power system - urgent service etc

Update and hopefully end of this drama.
Put in new alternator and all voltages looking correct now. Not fully tested but shouldn't be any further problems...fingers crossed.
Notes about fitting an alternator on a 1.6d S40 Mk2 for others attempting the job:-
Couldn't find any videos of anyone doing thiswith exact same engine so had to wing it.
Instructions I found on this forum didn't apply to this engine either.
Alternator seems to only come upwards so removing the throttle hosing is necessary. Tensioner had to be removed completely as even the square holes to put a lever in were only 1mm in depth (???)
Getting the 2 back friction bolts out was a pig but managed it. And getting the unit out once unbolted required brute force to pass the rigid air hose.
Squeezed the new alternator in. Resetting the tensioner needs some thought. After that, its downhill to finish.
Took around 2 hours plus breaks. Not something I want to do again soon.
Hopefully this will be useful to future members. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Hi Guys...new to the forum having acquired a Mk2 S40 very recently.
My first issue today was Power system - urgent service.
I'm wondering if this is just a blip as I was stuck in gridlocked traffic with heated seats, heated windscreen, rear screen and heater all on full...thats a lot of load on a cold engine and zero degree weather.
Nox Vidmate VLC
Once out of the traffic, the light went off and car seemed happy again. Battery is new and no reason to suspect a faulty alternator yet.
So, is this likely a blip or a future problem?
Thanks guys.
