Default Help please! Transmission/Power troubleshoot.

I have a 2004.5 volvo s40 T5. I purchased the car used and has been nothing but problems any help would be greatly appreciated! A day ago when arriving home the dash displayed "Power System Service Urgent" When I was parking the power steering went out and displayed "Power Steering Service Required" Today when going down the street to the grocery store The Power system service urgent message displayed again. Along with the power steering message and a message regarding the Anti-skid being off. When I arrived back home all three messages had turned back on then before I parked the car downshifted HARD and displayed "transmission Service Required" The car was immediately parked. Most of what I read has lead me to believe the alternator needs to be replaced which at 119k is very understandable. But for the transmission to all of a sudden have problems is what has me confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

This car really reacts badly to anything but perfect voltage. If you have a multimeter check the voltage at the battery when the car is running. It should be around 14 volts. Or go to Autozone or Advance where they can check your alternator on the car. I'm thinking your issues including the trans are related to the alternator.
