Default Probelm with Oil Filter Housing

Hi,
2 days ago I was in a garage for an examination to my Volvo S40, 2.4 non turbo, 5 cylinders.
I was told that my Oil Filter Housing is cracked and must be replaced, I asked for a price and he told me 340$ without any work(just the part).
I asked him for a number and hoped to find something cheaper in the net, this is what I found:
http://www.ipdusa.com/version.asp?st...=426&V_ID=9686
As you can see its for 4 cylinders and 2000 till 2004 models..but look at the price..
I was told my model is 1275808, I mean that is the number..
I haven't found anything else, can any one help me find or tell me if what I've found is good enough for my model?
Thanks.

this is from myswedishparts.com

I think the inspection guy may be talking about something different though considering the price discrepency.

Good Luck!

Link not working. Copy and paste the part number into their search feature.

Did they happen to say vent box or vent system with it?

Sounds like something is wrong with the vent system.
Yes on the 2004.5 and newer cars the oil filter housing is part of the vent box and it all needs to be replaced as one.

He said "You have a leak, we must replace your oil filter house and because we don't have that part right now we need to order it from our importer and that will cost about 340$"..thats what he said, its a licensed garage that Volvo acknowledge in my country, maybe thats why the price is so high?

No, he didn't mention anything about O-ring and bad.
I looked underneath the car for a leak or something when the engine was working and I found 2 places where there is a small leak: first place left side of the car where the hood(left side of the hood) and second place was just in the middle of the car, between all 4 wheels, in the middle.

Thats what they told me in the garage..what can it be?
Again, two places, the first one is in the left side of the hood underneath the car(left side when you look at the car..I mean if you sit in the driver seat then its in the right of the hood), second place in the middle of the car.

It is kind of hard to say. If the one was middle front like just behind the front bumper then maybe the housing assembly/vent box. But the way you say it it's more towards the middle of the car.
