Default Problem resetting radio code

OK, so I read instructions for resetting the radio to accept activation code after inputting incorrect codes and the instructions called for leaving the radio on for from 15 minutes to up to four hours. After doing so I had a dead battery which I've recharged and now the radio screen reads "OFF" and doesn't accept input (or at least I've not figured out how to get to the screen which will allow input of the activation code.) What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Well i have an s70; Just make sure the battery does not go dead in those four hours of keeping the radio on; I waited for four hours i just kept my ignition on one click; and kept it for four hours and then i was able to input the code.

Default resetting radio

you need to leave the contact on for about 45 min. then it will accept codes.
I had the same problem. You only get 3 chances.

I had the same problem. I would just go check on it every now and then. But I did have to go the 4 hours. If you continue to have code problems, call Volvo customer service. You can get the number off their website. Tell them your problem and they will ask you for your vin and give you your code.

I figured out that if I hold 'scan' when I turn the radio on it will bypass 'OFF', but resets when I turn the ignition off.

There is a lot of conflicting information posted in many forums about replacing a s80 hu-801 radio. Does anyone know a source for info on this. I obtained a code from dealer but the 801 has no preset buttons and no apparent way to enter any codes. This should not be so difficult.

The 801 doesn't have a code. They are programmed to the car with software.
