Default Questions about muffler/exhaust system???

okay so I have a 2005 Volvo s40 t5, its my first car and I had a lot of money saved and I work full time after school, so I have a lot saved up and almost have it paid off. New to cars but am interested in them a lot and progressively learning, really learn a lot since i had it but don't know **** still. Basically I want my s40 to have a more fierce louder sound. Not sure if its the muffler or exhaust that does this or what..?

What will make it sounds fierce and louder(not obnoxious loud, just a decent roar) what brands and types etc(try to give me as much info as possible please)

how much will a decent system(stainless steel) plus installation cost me?

Here are some pictures of my muffler:

THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! sorry for all the rambling haha

Okay i will try to give you a quick rundown on how it works.

The whole exhaust is what gives you noise, changing one part on it will change a noise differently. I have a 01 so much different car but before i started modding i had 2 cat-converters, 2 resonators, 1 muffler.

I am willing to think you have 1 cat on the downpipe (Piece of pipe from the turbo to the bottom of your car) then from there maybe another one, then a resonator then the muffler.

Each of these changes the notes. And unless you are willing to get dodgy state inspectors don't touch the cats.

There are multiple companies who make full set-up's, but these will cost a pretty penny.

Your other option is to do a custom one, using parts of your choice. This also allows you to ease into the exhaust, and be able to change it how you want, and generally less expensive.

Volvo S40 T5 Exhaust- Magnaflow Muffler - YouTube

This is a video of a person who just replaced the back muffler, or the box.

---------------------------------

This is what i started out with, muffler deletes. also the cheapest.
Volvo S40 T5 Exhaust - Stock, no muffler - YouTube

Just ask a muffler shop to chop out the muffler and put tips of your choice.

Also might want to look at maybe just a resonator delete. Youtube videos of that, i have to go to class for a bit.

a muffler is a muffler. it's saying that those are the most common applications and can be used with that. It's just a marketing scheme to make people more comfortable in buying those. As long as you match the openings up with your stock piping size you should be A Ok.
