Radio code does not work
Well this is rather apain. I removed the radio from my car and now when I reinstalled it the code the dealer gave me does not work. The first code they gave me was listed under my VIN and that did not work so they looked up the serial number on the radio and that code did not work also. Now the dealer says I am out of luck and there is nothing that they can do to fix it. Right now when you turn the radio on it says "OFF" since I tried three times to enter the security code and failed. The Volvo parts department was not even sure what to do to fix that problem but they thought it would eventually prompt for entering the code again. Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to fix this problem short of buying a new radio. [:@]
Yeah you only have a few times to put the code in and get it right. After those few times it will take awhile for it to go back to accepting the codes again.
Try again in an hour or two.

Well I read on volvo-forums.com that I have to leave it on (key position II)for about two hours before it will prompt again for the code. I'm more concerned that I still don't have the correct code. You would think Volvo would have some sort of way to disable or change that code by replacing some sort of chip. Very disappointed here.
Yes she did. She had to call some special phone number (Volvo support) to get the four digit code from the serial on the radio. I plugged the radio back in the dash and punched in the number using the preset tuning dial and I still got the "OFF" display. Here's a photo of the top of the radio. The top number is P30623160. Model no. (middle of label): 34W349T / RY-615-2AS Serial No. (at the botom of label): V03490 22665164
See what number you pull up from the computer at Volvo.

I don't have access to the system anymore.
If I did I would have tried pulling the info.
I would go back to them again. Maybe they can find out another trick from the Volvo help line to find it out.

Went to a different dealer with the radio and they got the same code so I am no go on this radio. Very depressed since I have to find another radio now. Even my electronics guy said he had never seen one of those radios go bad but had seen some of the older ones with the push buttons for choosing the preset stations fail due to a bad signal from the button.
