rattling fule door
For about six months now my 2002 Volvo s40 has had a mysterious rattle that comes and goes when I drive. It seems to be heard when I drive over a bump in the road, but not always.
Sometimes just accelerating from standing still on a newly paved road will cause the rattle.
But now I have found it! I just do not know how to fix it. It is caused by a loose fuel door on the outer body of my Volvo, it is located on the back left side.
But how to fix?
The door is loose and cannot be secured easily. In the working condition situation before this happened it was secured and only was loose when the card doors were unlocked. This of course allowed for the input off gasoline. Now it seems to be loose all the time whether the doors are locked or unlocked.
It just rattles. How do I fix it?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry about the misspelling. It should be fuel not fule.

No there is no spring in place on my door. It seems that one would not be needed. It would activate when I unlocked the car doors thus opening the fuel door?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is actually the solenoid or actuator for the fuel door. I am not sure what the problem is either a faulty device or just a bad connection.
Is it hard to repair or replace. I am guessing that the fuel door actuator is hard to access.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
