Default remote start recommendations

Greetings to all,
I have just purchased a 2005 s40 t5 with an automatic transmission. I live in Alaska & do not have a garage. I took the car to a local autostart shop hoping to have one installed. They had the car for hours & came to the conclusion that they could not install one & that it was very unlikely that anyone could. Is this true? Does anyone have any idea of brands that may be adaptable? Is it even possible?
I bought this car for my wife & was hoping that she wouldn't have to go outside in the dead of winter to start it & let it warm up.
Please advise,
Many thanks for your time & consideration,
Scott

PS. I initially tried the search feature but couldn't find any applicable information.

Default RE: remote start recommendations

I am not surprised that a local installer was stumped with your car. I have heard of several places who are a little shy about working with these newer Volvos. That's why I would take it to a dealership for this particular job. I hope I got the right link, but it shows how to install a OE remote starter on the S40. You could probably benefit with an engine block heater as well - it will preheat the oil so there is less strain on the starter and battery in extreme cold.
