I have a 2001 S40 and the cigarette lighter outlet got pushed in into the console by the hand brake. Any ideas on how I how I could get it out? Or how do I remove the center console by the hand brake so I can replace the outlet? Thanks.

 

I found a torrent file of VADIS (a parts finder program for Volvo cars) and searched out parts to get these images. I hope it helps. I am about to replace my cup holder and think this will do the trick.

I haven't found actual directions to replacing the cup holder though I have read that it is a 2 hour job. Looking at the diagrams I just posted I found I need to remove the upper console to get at the mid console mounting screws. Here is a diagram of the upper console. Will update when I get this job done.

Did it work? I've spent nearly 3 hours trying to do the same thing, cause the cigarette lighter fell through. I've looked at the pictures and am still unsure how to remove the middle console.

Any detailed ideas would be greatly appreciated.
