replaced engine and get Reduced engine performance light
Hey there, I just installed a used engine in my 2006 Volvo S40 and it started fine. While out for a test drive, Reduced Engine Performance light came on and car went into limp mode. Is there something I should do after installing this engine to correct this?
Thanks
Sandy

Is the car a turbo? What year / model is the car, and what year / model is the engine from?
There are a lot of things that can go wrong with an engine swap - if there's any difference in the donor / recipient vehicle, the CEM or other electronics could get confused. Or, you could have not gotten a connector seated properly (or at all).
Have you put an OBD reader on the car? I'm betting it's throwing a code or two that would be VERY helpful in determining where to look for the problem.

Thanks for answering guys,
I'm sorry I haven't been able to get back to you. It's not a Turbo, 2006 S-40. Engine came a S-40 as well, I think a 2007. I have put a reader on and am getting no codes. What is a VIDA please? Thanks

It's the software to use with a DICE scan tool.
It's what the dealer uses but a hacked version for DIY. You get most of the good stuff but not everything. Some things you must have a subscription. (like making a new ignition key)
