Default Replacing the Climate Control Module

The climate control module in my 2001 S40 is acting up. It works for awhile and then turns off. No lights, nothing functioning. The dealership wants to replace the module but is not convinced that this will solve the problem.
I can get a used module from a junk yard pretty cheap but I am not sure how to install it. Anybody know how difficult it would be to remove the existing module and replace it???
Thanks for any info

Ken

It is pretty easy but I believe it needs to be downloaded.

The Grey/Wood cover pulls off then the module is screwed to the dash.

What you need is a set of picks slide them behind the cover on the frotn and pop it off like tech said. Then there is 4 phillips head screws. IT should be plug and play on that year car no software download. Just be care full slideing the new one in and out not to scratch the AC vents or radio becuse there are some prongs hanging off the bottom of CCM
