replacing licence plate bulb?

need to change licence plate bulb...for a 2002 s40 volvo 1.9 litre turbo

You have to remove the trunk carpeting to gain access to the sockets to replace the bulbs.

removed carpeting...i see 2 prongs,,,how do you remove those,,,as i guess the bulbs are underneath,,perhaps twist off or pry off
