Default Replacing Turn Signal / wiper blade control board

Hey all,

Behind the steering wheel of my 2007 S40 is a board that the turn signal and wiper blade levers plug into. Am I able to swap that board out with a different one or is there some kind of serial or addressing that is tied into the computer for that part and you can't swap them?

Pretty certain that even Volvo didn't encode something that trivial (unlike the Steering Column Lock module). Better yet, I see them for $12-20 delivered from eBay (used, of course). You just need to make sure to get the one with the same options as your car.

That is the steering wheel module. On other Volvos a NEW steering wheel module requires a software download to make it work. (that's the SW icon on the parts page)

Don't know if a used one would work. Some modules in your car are tied to the VIN of the car and won't work on any other VIN. You can't "reprogram" your VIN into a used module using VIDA either. Aftermarket companies such as xemodex can do that. Again not sure about a SWM.
