Default Replacing windshield wiper blade assembly

What are the arms that the windshield wiper blades are connected to or mounted on a S40 called?

On my 2002 Volvo s40 the driver's side blade and its support are missing. So I must replace the driver's side blade plus its arm support at least. I do not know how hard the support arms are to acquire or even how to replace them. But this must be done. If it is not the car is drivable.

I am hoping it is not to complicated as I really do not want to spend a lot of time and money on this.

For now I just need to know their name.

Respectfully,

Wiper arms.

Each is held on with one nut. Doesn't get any easier than that. But I doubt your wiper arm is missing. Sounds like you just need a new wiper blade.

Well it was used to clean the snow off of my 2002 Volvo s40 and it cracked and snapped, so it is now just a jagged stub. I do think that I will need to replace along with the wiper blade which is clearly gone.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

The arm is the metal part that attaches to the wiper motor. The wiper blade attaches to the arm. I think you're confusing it with old ones that had wiper inserts.

if all you have is the arm that goes from the cowling to the glass ending in a u-shape, then you just need the wiper blade (they should come with the retaining clip, particularly if you buy a brand like Bosch or Michelin). If the arm is snapped off (never seen that) they as noted you need the new wiper arm held on by one bolt (just pop up the cover cap to expose).
