S40 -98 Alarm won't disable with manual key
I broke my key remote on my '98 S40 2.0l so I can't use it to open the doors and disable the alarm. I can of course use my manual key to open the doors, but that instantly triggers the alarm system and it starts honking. Is there a way to disable the alarm?
I already tried to wait out the 30 seconds or so of the alarms honking, and when it stops, I started the car. The alarm system will still not disengage as the blinkers keep flashing. Whenever I open any of the doors again, the alarm goes off again. I also tried turning the key in the lock twice after the alarms go off, no help. So basically the car is undriveable.
I already made an appointment with Volvo maintenance but that is two weeks away and the remote key can't be shipped until next month. If there is a way to disengage the alarm and be able to lock and unlock the car with just the mechanical key, I would greatly appreciate advice.
