S40 Antenna Issue: Help!
Sometimes you wonder what really goes on when your car is being serviced. Nothing like receiving your car back after an oil change, turning it on to find the radio blasting, and turned to a station you never listen to, and a bent antenna.
After numerous attempts, the dealership has tried to re-bend and fix the antenna. I sat in the service center for three hours today while they completed at 30-min job. I was told the antenna parts chipped into the teeth of the motor requiring the motor to be taken apart and cleaned.
My car was returned to me with a supposedly fixed antenna.
My question: How high should the S40 antenna go? How many parts make up the mast?
Right now, when the radio is on, the antenna raises to about the level of the roof line.
Is this how it is supposed to be, or do I need to go back?!

Unfortunately you need to go back.the antenna should rise way above the roof looks like yours coming out about half way.You should see 5 element coming out.You could tell them now that they should replace the whole unit as chances are they screwed up the gears and make them apologize for the inconvenience.Usually one just replace the antenna mast thats all but it seems those mechanics arent even average ones if they were trying to fix a broken section by bending it back. .
