My 2005 S40's infotainment and climate systems have suddenly stopped working. The settings seem to be frozen on the last place i had them (preset 2 and off, respectively), and none of the buttons on the panel have any effect at all. I tried removing the panel and blowing out the male and female parts of the clip, to no effect. Also tried disconnecting the battery for two hours, just erased my presets so now I get to listen to static instead of my second favorite station. Anyone have any ideas

First always check your fuses.

Second guess is the CEM. When mine started having issues with the A/C randomly refusing to turn on I got a junkyard unit which fixed it right up.
