Default s40 t5 not cranking

Woke this morning and my 05 t5 will not start. I have read all the posts about the FPR etc, but get the feeling its not this as it wont even crank. Battery was my first guess but after an unsuccessful jump im moving on from that. Lights come on, stereo works, but when i turn the key, nothing!!! No engine light comes on either.

My wife just informed me that this has happened before, actually 2 times in the last 8 months. Once she just kept trying and eventually it fired. Again it was not cranking not even a noise when you turn the key, but some how it just started 20 min later.

The other time was a few weeks ago and she thought it was the battery so she got a jump and it started up. Im thinking it was just random that the battery was being jumped and it started because all the symptoms were the same as the first time as well as this morning, and jumping does nothing at all.

I dont have much experience with this car, im about to go check the FPR but am I correct in assuming it would at least crank and spin the starter motor even if the Fuel pump or the FPR were not working???

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

Yes it would still crank if you have a bad FPR.
You can take the the starter, battery, and alternator to AutoZone (or other type of auto store), and have them test them.

Actually...Wait.

It only does this every once in a while right?
Next time it happens, try tapping on the starter with a hard object, like a hammer, a couple of times, and see if it starts after that. That was how I knew I need a new starter.

Default Looses Wires

Have not had this issue with my S40 T5, but did with my previous car. Found the problem to be a loose wire between the batter and starter. Hopefully it is a simple fix like for you. Good luck.

I have had the same issue on my V40 2000. It happened twice now. Do some shopping park the car and 10 minutes later get back in and nothing. No click or anything. All lights come on but nothing happens. Wait 15 minutes and it starts right up. No engine codes. I'm still hoping that someone can give me some direction where to look.

Thanks,
Dutch Connection
