Default S40 Turbo / build questions

So I have an 06 S40 that I plan to throw a Garrett on, and I want to gather a list of parts that I should replace with performance parts; as I don't really know any of this cars weakspots. I've had her for a few months and she still has a hair less than 100k miles, but I got a new line of work and i'm making much more money than I was a few months ago; so I will have another daily driver and this will be my 'tuner car'. This will be my first tuner car, 95% of the work is going to be done by a shop called Volvostop here in Florida, they are super reputable dealing with old and new Volvo builds.

So far here's some parts I gathered that should / can be upgraded from stock, if anyone can add to this list; please do! (Turbo kit already includes new intake manifolds, intake, and mounting hardware) Thank you!

intercooler - Snabb and Do88 make good kits. Keep an extra transmission around if you plan on beating 1st and 2nd gear.

Is your car a 2.4i or a T5? If it's a T5 you might be fine. You can also gets the shop opinion on that. I was thinking about putting the K24 turbo in my car and I would of took the S60R injectors too. But S40 is a bit different.

check out tuner web sites for their blue-printed kits to see what they have in a package. Like this one for $5K that will get you ~350 HP at the wheels (417 at the crank):

https://www.elevatecars.com/elevate-...o-upgrade.html

you didnt mention if you have an MT or auto. The MT should be good for 400 HP, auto's not so much more than 300 at the wheels.

I wanted to ask; is there a good place to buy built volvo transmissions? I'm still with the stock auto transmission and try to take it gently with the sequential shifting, once that baby feels some boost though I very well know the transmission may shoot itself onto the road. Also considering there is the T5 version of this car for the same year (they might have the poopy GM transmission if i'm not mistaken), I don't really know how much boost it should be able to handle already before I get to that 'damaging point'. Would it be okay with 15 20 psi boost w/ stock engine and transmission?

wait - you have a naturally aspirated 2.4i and want to add boost to that??? I take back my recommendation about an Elevate kit and suggest the easy button: Sell the 2.4i and buy a S40 T5 with a manual transmission. From there you can upgrade the turbo size, get a tune etc. There are two major complications with adding a turbo to an NA engine. 1) the ECU is not set up to regulate the boost. You'd probably need to swap in a turbo car's wiring harness or find a kit to accomodate. 2) the NA's compression ratio is 10.3:1, which is way higher than the T5s 9.0:1 so detonation under boost is going to be an issue. Plus many turbo cars use oil jets to cool the pistons - not sure if the NAs has that feature.

100% sell the 2.4 and get a T5 otherwise it will cost a lot more , besides the engine management and lots of engine mods , there is the brakes , drive shafts wheels etc
I certainly would not bother as both the T5 and the S2.4 are quite cheap cars now so spending lots can only be as a personal project for fun
