Default S40 won't rev above 3000rpm

Hey everyone 1.6diesel s40 won't rev above 3000 in any gear or at idle not in limp mode no warning lights timing belt not long done I've a feeling crank sensor or the wheel it reads off is at fault or the wiring to the sensor

I get code ecm3100 in diagnostic

Should I replace sensor and check the wheel for any teeth missing and check the wiring to the sensor

S40 won't rev above 3000rpm

So everyone I inspected the reluctor wheel on the crank sprocket that the sensor reads off and it appears that the wheel may be missing teeth I priced the whole pulley as reluctor wheel cannot be got by itself so €55 for the pulley but timing belt will have to be undone in order to change the sprocket

On the other hand the crank sensors are online for 25 to 80 euros depending on brand and quality

I think I will still chance changing the sensor first as its the handiest to do n then if the problem persists I will change the reluctor wheel and crank sprocket as a last resort

Also some hall sensors can have an internal short that will eventually get worse as time goes on
