Hey everybody I am new to this forum and new to volvo. I just bought a 2001 volvo s40 1.9 T. I had it thoroughly checked out by two different mechanics and everything came back fine. It has 97,000 miles on it. So I just bought it last night and it drives like a dream. But when I went to start it this morning it cranked over tried to start, then died. I almost **** myself, I just paid 5000 for a car that doesnt work. So I tried cranking it over for another ten seconds and it wanted to start but wouldnt. So i finally tried again but started pumping the gas this time. It started up after ten seconds, revved to 1500, then died agian. Now I was really worried. So I tried again, but this time when i got it to start I held the gas down for about 2 seconds holding it at 2k rpm. Then I let off the gas and the thing idled down just fine and started running like a champ again. Does anyone know what this could be?! I am quite worried seeing how I just purchased the car, but it seems very odd cause it runs absolutely perfect, idles just right, no mis firing or fluttering idle. Please Help!!

Agreed. It was the fuel pressure regulator on mine too. The price has gone up though so be prepared for sticker shock.
