service light wont reset

hi all,my 1999 2.0t service light is on.i have looked up the way to reset it,hold odometer reset,turn ignition hold until beep or light flashes,nothing ever happens, it will not reset.anyone any ideas please..james

There are a couple of different ways. Some work on one car, and some dont.I can't remember how to do itright now, but there are some older posts.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that after you reset it "x" amount of times, it wont reset, and you have to bring it in to the dealer?

Am I full of crap or did I read that somewhere, tech
