Hi guys,

This is my first post here. About 2 weeks ago I sold my SC300 Lexus and I'm in the market for an 2L S40 SE.

I test drove one a few hours ago. Poor sick little thing, I felt sorry for it. It had 180,000 km's on it, but it felt like 500,000. Leather was all cracked and had holes, carpet was wrecked, dash was peeling... very sad looking thing. I felt very sorry for it, I can't understand people who treat their cars so badly. Funny part was that this guy was giving me attitude because I'm young and wouldn't treat it good! Yeah right!

Anyway, when I drove it the engine sounded very course and aggressive. It was very loud, particually when I compare it to the 3L 6cyl Lexus. I was expecting a Volvo to be very quiet, so was it just this car? or is the 2L S40 generally a loud car in the cabin?

I think you just found a bad Apple.Probably had bad engine mounts.The right side mount goes bad pretty often.They are pretty nice cars.
