has anybody had this problem with their S40. I love my car but occasinally it gets stuck in first gear rpms go high and will only shift if i take my foot off the gas pedal. i had it happen today and it got up to over 5 and half rpms and when i took my foot of the gas it took a second or two to shift. i tried to get the dealer to fix it but they said they couldnt find anythingwrong with thetransmission. any ideas what it could be.

 

sounds like the old TCM problem. Transmission control module. Replaced mine under warranty. $600 part.

 

darkknight - any updates on your transmission... is it fixed? Mine does the same thing... I'm just wondering if you needed a new transmission or if the transmission control module/computer did the trick.
