Default Stealer Comp ECM Flash?

On my s40i (base engine) I was getting 4 trouble codes. Replaced my gas cap and the Fuel Rail Sensor and three code went away. But still have a P0172 fuel bank one too rich being stuborn. Comes on when I get to 2800 rpms. Car will have a stuborn time starting about 3 times a month. But then runs fine after I get beyond the flood engine symptom. My local dealer wants $120 to scan it so the "Swedish Software" can make sense of the code. I told him there is a bulletin out on the car for a hard to start symtom that is resolved by flashing the ECM. He told me the cost for a flash to the ECM ranges from $60 to $80 depending on the software needed. My local mechanic said that the ECM has to be upgraded by the Dealer. I imagine this is true. But, my question is: What can I expect from a visit to them? I heard that the flashing can be over $200.
Finally, is there a difference among different dealers on Scanning the trouble codes and ECM flashing?

What year is your car?

There is a bulletin for the early P1 cars. But it does not mention any fault codes.

An ECM update is an hour labor plus the cost of the software.

Diagnosis should be free if you are in the US.

If you're referring to bulletin 16640, it only applies up to 2006, so I doubt it is your problem.

On the Bulletin Tech Journal 27341 says it fixes a bug in the ECM for "hard starting".
It is a product mod. for the ECM software that fixes "leakage diagnostic fuctions ...released in 2008".

That's also not going to be your problem. The purpose of the software is to make sure the ECM sets the correct fault code if there is a problem with the reading from the TMAP.

The bulletin for software for the LDP will also not fix your problem and is not that bulletin you mentioned.

OK, thanks. A shop in town printed out the info for me based on my VIN
Need to get the code cleared for the US Emissions testing where I live so I can renew my auto registration.
So to the dealer I will go ...soon.

Just clearing the code will likely not let you pass emissions. You will probably be rejected (as opposed to failed) because all the monitors need to run again with no faults.

If there is a fault causing the code, it will return until the fault is remedied.
