Default Surging S40 Turbo- smashed house

Our Volvo S40 has suddenly developed a random pattern of dramatic surging and galloping. The normal idle is around 600, but under throttle, the idle can stick at around 2000, and from there, the engine surges from 2000 to over 4500, which isfast. We found this when the car shot off with my dad as he pulled in the driveway. He did not react quickly and it immediately hit the garage and smashed into the house. We took the car, and tested it a number of times, and the problem repeats itself. We have a video. Local Volvo people have blamed it on the nipple on the end of the accelerator cable sliding down and becoming entangled in the linkage, however, this does not explain the speed simply randomly galloping up and down. It can run fine for a few hours, and then suddenly, while in park, just run up by itself to over 4500. HELP!!! The video shows the engine shooting up and down arbitrarily. We have photographs of the wrecked house. Any input is appreciated, otherwise, VOLVO S 40 OWNERS BEWARE. We are not scammers, we are all educated and fair minded, but this is a menace, we have it on film, and so far VOLVO is ignoring us.
