Default Suspension diagram?

Hello, I've been searching the net for a labeled front suspension diagram for my 2000 S40. Anyone have any suggestions or site to direct me to?

Are you in need of parts?
These are what commonly go bad.

The spring goes between that part and the strut.

Thank you, but I'm just trying to understand more how things are connected. The struts, isolators, spring seats, sway bar bushings and sway bar links have been replaced, yet the sway bar has been hitting the control arm. It is now thought it may be the sway bar is slightly bent. This all began due to a knocking up front, so naturally the struts were replaced.

Was the swaybar centered when they replaced the bushings?

Yes, but it won't stay centered, usually going to the right. The bushings have been adjusted a few times, and two shops said the sway bar looked straight, but the right link doesn't seem to be at the angle it should be (after the sway bar has slid over again).

Did they install the bracket so the bushings would not slide?

I would think so, but am not sure. I take it to a shop that is not a dealer, and they've been working exclusively on Volvo for 30+ years.

OK just seems like someone did something wrong if the sway bar keeps shifting.

Thank you for the help. It may have been in an accident at some time, and perhaps the sway bar has a slight bend to it. I bought it used in the summer or 2005 so don't have any history, other than I know they didn't keep up on regular maintenance. I had a bit of catch up to do when I first got it.

Saw this is a 2 year old post. But quick question. Were the sway bar bushings the right size to fit the sway bar? There are a number of different sway bars that volvo uses, and they have different diameters, and the bushings are made to hold those diameters. Check the dimentions of the bushings and the part number and match it to the bar you have. If the bushings are too loose, they will not hold the bar in place well even if they are securely fastened to the subframe. Sorry for the very late reply. Just a thought since none of the prior posters mentioned the bushing size issue.

For the 00 S40,only one sway bar was offered on that vehicle. Those swab bar bushing are a common problem on these cars. I sell plenty of sets.

Default Suspension Diagram

try www.myvolvopartsonline.com

I found a decent rear strut parts diagram there. Maybe they have a front one also.

One of the first things I did when I got my 2000 S40 was replace an endlink with a new one from Moog. Turned out it was just slightly too long even though it was the correct part. It ended up hitting the control arm. I'm not sure how long they actually have to be, (I gotta measure) but I thought I'd throw that out there.
