Thinking of getting an used S40
I haven't had a Volvo since we had an old wagon that was a tank.
The wifey is in need a of a new (used) vehicle and is interested in a Volvo. What are the pros/cons of the S40? Is the 4 banger big enough? So far we've looked at 2 vehicles with around +- 100k miles. What issues would a Volvo have at those miles? We are probably looking at a 2000+ model year.
Thanks!

if your reffering to the older s40s (2000-04) then I definitely would not recommend the s40 as far as size goes...its a very tight fit if you will have children/car seats in the back...the other problem with the s40 is maintenance/repair costs can get very expensive if you don't have the do it yourself skills...for someone with money and handyman knowledge its not a bad car but just not for families...
Thanks, no car seats. (ya!) Our son will be off to college soon and inherite her 92 325I. It'll pretty much be a commuter for the wifey and I always do all my own repair work.
What about the turbo model? Any issues?

the 2000-04 s40s all come with a 12T mitsubishi turbo..these turbo's are low pressured and can take a prettygood beating...as far as commutting these cars do great on the highway, you would be pleased...again my only problem with the s40's is the cost of parts, etc...performance and reliability wise they are very nice cars...
Well yes, but I'm more or less talking from a performance stand point, any sort of mods you might want to do in the future will come with a large wallet...and normal dealership services are wayyyy overpriced but if you said that you do your own repairs you should be alright.
