Default tire size

Hi all,
I have 195 60 r15's on my 2002 S40. They are getting old, and I'm thinking about replace them with somethong lower and wider. I want to keep the rims. Any suggestions?
Thanks,,

Looks like your options from them are...

195/60-15 which you already have.

185/65-15

195/65-15 which is what I run.

205/60-15

Might be more options out there, try TireRack as well.

Well the 65's wont be as low as the 60's you are currently running. If you are wanting lower and wider you would need to go with 205, 215, etc. by 55, 50 etc. Going to a lower profile tire is going to put your odometer off. Plus with a 15" rim you are probably looking at a rim width of about 6.5" so you will need to be careful on how wide you go before the current rims no longer will work.

You guys think that 205/60-15 will fit the factory alloy rims?

Yes. I've got Yokohama YK520s (P205/60-R15) on my '01 S40. I got 38K miles off of them before having to replace them due to wear. Odometer is still spot on.

Thank you!
Do you think a little bit flatter, say /55 would be ok too?
I got this Volvo in January, and before that I was driving Imprezas. The suspension is much softer, which is ok, but in curves I feel a hesitation, partly, probably, due to tall tires.

I don't see why not...if you like the ride that the lower-profile tires give. However, I personally wouldn't because I don't care for the harsher, more jarring ride that the shorter tires provide. I like the wider footprint of the 205s though.

I like the wider footprint myself. But it's still up to you to decide which one you think is best for you.
