Default Transmission Winter Mode

Hi Guys,

I'm new here, I'm from the Philippines. I have a 2000 S40. I was wondering if you can disengage the transmission winter mode if the switch is defective? We don't have winter in the philippines, I don't need that mode. Somebody pressed the "W" switch and now I can't disengage it, I think the switch is busted, the car starts now on 3rd gear from full stop. Will it disengage if I reset the computer by removing the battery? Or is there another way to disengage it and lastly is it possible to bypass that mode? Help! Thanks!

You should be able to click that switch back out it tends to get greasy.Clean it up then try again.its just stuck. No battery removal will not do anything you'v got to make that switch work.

Switch is stuck. I had the same problem, the local volvo guy fixed it in 5 minutes. Just pull it back up or perhaps disconnect the switch...

Hi, Thank you for the advice. I tried removing the battery for 20 mins, when I connected it back, the winter mode disengaged. I will disconnect the switch permanently, I dont need the winter mode here in the Philippines, anyway.
