Default turbo sensor

2004 S40, 185K miles. Was getting occasional poor throttle response off idle, occasional rough idle, reduced fuel millage. OBDII scan showed "Bank1 lean condition". Acted to me like a bad TPS, but dealer said bad down side O2 sensor, replaced it for $310.00. Wanted to replace upper as well. I did that one (Bosch oem) for $75.00. Still doing it. Now the code says "Turbo Sensor". It has both a barometric sensor as well as a knock sensor. Since the lag is off idle, my bet is on either the barometric sensor, or a bad TPS. I don't neccessarily trust the way standard OBDII readers interact with Volvos, since the Volvo codes go way beyond standard details. Can any certified Volvo techs give a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

My suggestion would be to get the exact code and post it to see if someone has had this code before or maybe has the exact Volvo wording of the trouble code.

I would also try to troubleshoot by erasing the code and disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes to erase all the fuel trims. Then reconnect and see if the problem occurs immediately upon driving. This would tell me it's a hard failed item and not a random glitch that we sometimes get.

I'll do that....but I don't think it's hard failed, but failing. The symptoms are frequent enough to be aggravating but random enough to indicate partial function.

Thanks.

When I bought my 2005 the Brake Warning light came on not 5 minutes after I paid for the car. Thinking the reservoir low level sensor was bad I starting taking the car apart only to find the sensor's electrical connection loose. I snapped it back into place and no more light. Maybe you might get lucky with a loose connection.

Okay - It threw a P071 (bank 1 lean condition) and p0235 - turbocharger boost sensor. Which I would surmise is the BAP since it uses a MAP on the front end. I'll clear it, wipe the trim residuals...and try it again.

Okay...It's not a BAP...it's a MAP. So...at least that's identified.
