Default upright arrow lit up on 2002 s40 dash

I just got my Volvo s40 back from the repair shop. When I started driving it, my info panel showed an upright arrow on the right side. What does that mean? I have been told it is software bug on the computer system for the s40 and not to be concerned about it.

What does it mean.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Respectfully,

That upward arrow is related to the gearshift/transmission. If you have the winter mode switch depressed, it will come on. If you are driving in 4 or 3 instead of D it will come on. It could also mean you have a faulty park/neutral safety switch. Could also be something else related, but those are the only ones I've personally encountered.

Good Luck,

W button is pressed is my guess. Many times they get stuck down due to sticky drinks being spilled.
