V40 transmission issues

V40 transmission issues

I have a 2004 v40. The car will shift into gear but essentially stays in park. Anyone have any idea what causes this?

Any check engine lights? And when you say it stays in park, is the transmission still locked, or is it more like its in nuetral?

do the transmission react at all when u shift?

The car is like it is in neutral. The check engine light and transmission light (low gear indicator) are on. When the car is cold the transmission performs as normal for a few yards or so.
