I opened my volvo s40(2001) radiator coolant cap and now ,my volvo is
over heating... how can I restore pressure in the coolant to contenue
running in my engine. I looked up in y manual and it says that
openingthe the coolant cap can cause the coolant not to circulate
appropriately in the engine. can some one please tell me what i need to
do to get this thing going back to normal? i'm going crazy!!!!

 

You have something wrong somewhere. Opening the cap will not make it overheat.

 

Is there coolant visible in the overflow bottle?
