Hi

I am a new member( Hello) and would like some help with an ongoing problem.

My exhaust vibrates between 1.5 & 2.5k on the rev counter, a mechanic at the local dealership told me there was a mod that fixed this problem but now the garage is telling me that it will not? does anyone know anything about this mod that was meant to hold the 2 parts of the pipe together at the front end of the car to stop vibration? Car is S40 year 2000

Are you sure the cat converter isn't bad?

Not really off hand.Do you know where about the noise is comming from?
I believe there is some rubber hanger on the pipes that might be bad.

 

I've never heard of that, nor ever had that problem, however my s40 was used when I got it, sound fishy still, I don't remember the name of the website but there is one that shows all the recalls and mods made for all cars, I would have a friend who is a mechanic look at it, if just your exhuast is vibrating a mount may have just come loose, if it is more the engine, try adding some lucas oil, you can find it at any autoparts store
