I had my 2002 Volvo s40 worked on last week. The mechanic must have disconnected the battery because the radio is now asking for an anti-theft code.


The ones that I gave it from memory are not working. The dealer that I bought it from has gone out of business. Thus I am stuck. The only way to get that code is from the dealer (so I have been told), but he is gone. There is a new dealer that also carries Mercedes-Benz cars as well as Volvos.


I doubt they would give the code with charging a hefty fee. Thus I am stuck. I know all about my car(VIN etc), but the anti-code I remembered is wrong.


So is there another way to get it this anti-theft code?

Call the dealer and give them your VIN. I doubt they will charge for it. Worst case they make you come in with registration.

 

Any Volvo service center should be able to give you the code. I had to do this with my son's 2001 S40.
