does anyone have a repair manual or any suggestions what manual I should get for my s40 2001 1.9 turbo 4 cylinder car I'm planning to repair many things on the car like for example I'm going to replace my crankcase breather system or pcv system, I've used many videos to fix some parts on my car. but I'm going to school to be an AMT (aircraft maintenance technician) and we learn to go off the maintenance manual for any work to be performed on the aircraft and I wanted to see if I could have my very own repair manual for my car any suggestions or any free files out there that I can access. thank you any help would be appreciated.

 

There is a Haynes manual for the European version, but not the North American version. I bought mine through IPD. The best (but not cheapest) way is to get a copy of VIDA and buy a DiCE tool. DiCE is a Volvo diagnostic tool like an OBD-2 code reader but made specifically for Volvos.

When you buy the Chinese knockoff DiCE you also get a copy of VIDA. VIDA is (Vehicle Information and Diagnostics for Aftersales) Volvo software with instructions on how to repair, component lists, part numbers, etc. The hard part is getting it to cooperate with Windows. My copy worked with Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate. Windows 10? Don't know.

 

Haynes has a pretty decent manual but the VIDA is best. You can get VIDA without the DICE and save some money but having DICE is really cool and can easily pay for itself.
