Where do I start? Which S40 for the wife?
So, I am a VW guy. We had someone living next to us who had a s40 Turbo in white, want to say 2006ish body style and the wife loved it. She drives aa 2002 VW Golf TDI which I will take over as my day to day car. She would keep it, but with 195k on it little issues keep popping up and I want here to be in something that won't break down as much right now.
That being said, what year range does this body style come in? Anything to avoid? Really looking at the Turbo AWD model. What grade gas do I use and rough real world MPG. I know the vw will get better gas milage, but is this a upgrade for her in some aspects. We looking at a 2009 Audi a4, but she didn't like the body style and is still drawn to the volvo.
What is the aftermarket support like, upgrades etc? I can never leave a car alone. The vw has a 2' drop, 17's etc etc.
Thanks! Just trying to make sure this is the right move for us.

Thanks!
Her -28, not a racer, but we enjoy cars. We really like to enjoy them. We live in Denver, so mountains, curves etc. Highway driving sure and snow. I live 5 blocks from work and she works 1.5 miles away ha. Most snow driving will be done in my jeep unless or timing is off.
What I want from the car. Fun to drive. A decent stereo, might add a touch here. Handles like a sports car (within reason) and safe to drive for here and our dogs. Don't mind working on cars myself, but don't want every weekend spent on it.
Forgot, were HID lights a option?
Also, I prefer the newer body style, such as this version in the link I am going to check this one out for kicks.

well i lived in the springs and worked at the only dealership there so i know how to is to drive in colorado. its a small car so if you get the turbo awd version its pretty fun to drive if you ask me. if you get the r design version you should be getting a lot of the things you want. and judging from working on volvos on colorado specially the s40s, not a lot goes wrong with them.
