Will a 2007-8 S40 2.4i automatic get 30mpg highway?
Hello everyone,
I am looking to maybe buy a 2007-8 S40 2.4i Automatic. I can get a GREAT deal on 2007 with 10,000 miles if I act fast. Or I can wait and catch a demo/loaner for a reduced price. I do not want a turbo. The question I have is can these achieve 30mpg or better if you do not goose it too hard on a trip on the highway?? I am talking speeds like 70mph with no traffic on an interstate. I would be jumping out of a Volkswagen TDI diesel, so I do expect a decrease somewhat in economy. I may wait for the new VW TDIs, not sure yet. Any experience on the S40 appreciated. I hope these are not high mantainence cars either. Thanks, Paul

I have a 2005 T5, and I've done 33mpg on road trips where I just put on the cruise control, and thats around 65-80mph. Soit should be easy to get the same results in a car that doesnt have a turbo, and with less horsepower.
