Wipers don’t work - random won’t stop - s40 2005 2.4i
I changed the stalk, cleaned the cem and fuse connectors with cleaner, I got a used motor (although I ordered a second one I suspect it may have been dead also) I have power and ground at motor, and volts on the white green signal wire, the motor pops on randomly And never shuts off even with key removed. I suspect a bad motor, I read many threads but no one really seems to post the results. Everything else works, if anyone has any experience or things I missed, I ordered the Volvo software so I can dive deeper into this. And will post my findings

It's not your motor.
The CEM controls the wipers. A good first step would be to scan all the control units in the car. You may find CEM codes - commonly CEM's are subject to water damage which causes many weird symptoms. Someone like xemodex.com can fix your CEM if it is water damaged.
"Ordered the Volvo software" - are you referring to a copy of Vida 2014d and a dice unit? If so that would be the best tool to scan the car with.

a used one with this software its the full version
Or is it easier to send it out? I watched videos on the vida software I guess it will show if it can talk to the motor or not
at $549 I will just drive the car on sunny days, any way to install a wiper motor I can put a manual switch in?? That would be way easier

Used CEM - A cem is "coded" to the VIN number of your car. VIDA can't "program" a used CEM to work with your car. An aftermarket source such as xemodex can.
Your stolen and hacked VIDA 2014d can read codes and help you diagnose and repair things, gives you a parts catalog and wiring diagram if complete. You can't download software updates or initialize new modules unless you have a paid subscription purchased from volvotechinfo.com.

Also when you hit the auto wiper feature the symbol doesn’t show in the dash display- could that be a wiring issue to the control module? Or a bad switch - but there are electronics behind the switch
Well if the wipers work with the key removed ,then its a definitily a short somewhere , the central Electronic module , if it corroded is probably like 95% the fault
Pity you got a new motor as that cant be the fault , they either work or not
Alway test a Motor before getting a new one , just apply 12v to it
