Default '08 Volvo S60 Garage smells of Gas

We have a 2008 Volvo S60 with 46,000KM, bought it about 2 months ago. Quite often i notice a smell of gas in our house (we have an attached garage). Everyday when my wife get home from work (she drives the Volvo) we can smell gas in the garage. We have isolated it to the Volvo and usually after being driven. We went away for about 5 days and took the truck upon returning home there was no gas smell in the garage from the Volvo so it seems to not be leaking gas. Today i drove the car up on ramps to check for any leaks and i ran my hand over all the tubing from the gas cap and to the tank and no gas smell at all. I also tried smelling around the engine and again no gas smell. I called our local Volvo dealer and he told me that the car has some kind of air pump in the gas line so the car will check automatically if there any leaks and the service light would come on. I have also read posts on this forum that suggest it can be the fuel pump but that is usually associated with poor starting. Our car starts great every time. I also check for recalls and there is nothing. I have searched these forums as well as google and no ideals. Do anyone have any suggestions?

Default gas smell

Have the dealer check for a service bulletin on the fuel pump.

I suspect you have a leaking fuel pump. The gas smell will only appear when you fill your tank to full. Look for fuel stains on the surface of your fuel tank beneath the car on the right side of the back passenger. I had this problem before where the top part of fuel pump casing suffered a hairline crack.

In my case the pump feeder piping does not leak. It is the top part plastic casing of the pump housing assembly that is cracked.
