Default 120k Service

Well, I just had my service light start to come on upon start up and it stays on for about 1 minute while driving. I'm at 121k right now, so I assume it wants me to perform the 120k service. I'm on a budget, so can someone (Tech, perhaps?) fill me in on what is generally replaced for the 120k service. I want to try and just do the necessities and do them myself or by my mechanic to keep costs down. I'm sure Volvo would want an arm and a leg for it.

If it matters any, I have an '01 T5 auto. I just did a trans. fluid drain/fill about 5k ago and am doing an oil change tomorrow with 10w30 full synthetic.

Any input appreciated!

volvo dealers have a booklet detailing what is to be done at each service interval and they will give you for free ( to try to get your business)...

get the said guide, and see what it has and order the parts online and get it done yourself..

The service light is only an oil change reminder that needs to get reset. It is annoying. You can search for instructions or try this:

Turn the ignition to position I
Press and hold the trip reset
Turn the ignition to position II
Wait for the trip to reset and then reappear
When the mileage returns, you have about 5 seconds to release the trip reset

The service light will reappear every 7500 miles or so.

Aaaaah - in that case I guess my oil change was right on time. I'll try the reset thing tomorrow. Thanks!

I tried the method above to clear the service light and it didn't work. Thought the odo is at 0 now. Any advice?

Timing is everything, but if that didn't work then try this other version:

Have some miles on the trip
Turn the ignition to position I
Press and hold the trip reset
Turn the ignition to position II
Release the trip reset within 4 seconds

Some of the '02s worked one way and the others worked this other way

On a 120k maintenance, volvo recomend you replace the spark plugs, cabin and air filters, brake fluid, oil cap gasket, rotate tires. You should conisder changing out your coolant as well. The "other stuff" is a safty check of the car which usally intitles checking suspension for wear, tires, checking dtc's, inspection of charging and cooling systems etc....

Thanks Matt! Exactly what I was looking for.

Fast Ride: I'm still having trouble resetting the service light. I release the odo reset button about 1 sec after I turn it to pos II. I'm also holding the button down as I turn the key from pos I to II. Am I doing this correctly?
