Default 2.5T motor blew swapped it for a used engine now mu A/T will not go into any gear…

So I have tried searching many forms here and other pages before posting this. I swapped the motor out that blew on my 2005 Volvo S60 2.5t with an A/T. Prior to this the transmission had no issues what so ever. No hard shifts, no hesitation at all. Car as 230k miles on it. I’ve ran out of ideas it could be at this point. When you shift in the car it’s moves then piece on top of the transmission but doesn’t go into any gear at all. Any suggestions? I though about just getting a used transmission but not familiar with the electronics on the Euro cars as I am with Japanese cars. Could it be the TCM. Car runs perfectly fine now with the new motors just doesn’t seem like it’s getting any power to the trans or something.

If I had more experience I would help better, but I would go over your work and see if you missed something, a plug etc. Any error codes on any of the modules? When my brother did some work on his mini cooper he forgot to plug the throttle body in and the car wouldn't start, plugged in the scanner and saw a code for open circuit and helped us figure out what was missed.

+1, also check fuses and relays. Its possible a connector isn't snapped in fully or perhaps a wire/ground got nicked or didn't connect cleanly. Good idea on scanning for codes.

Stupid stuff to check.

If removed axles in place properly.
Flex plate installed.
Flex plate bolted to the the torque converter.
Torque converter installed into the trans properly (in case it slipped out of the trans and oil pump drive).
