Default 2001 S60 needs a new tranmission. Thinking of selling.

I own a 2001 S60. It needs a new transmission. I am thinking of selling the car and cutting my losses, but don't have any experience selling a vehicle outright. Would like opinions and suggestions. Is the car sellable with a bad tranny? If so, how do I go about pricing the car?

Thank you.

If I were you....I would spend the money and put a rebuilt tranny in the car depending on the miles of the car, if you really want to sell the car I would go to kbb.com and look at the blue book value of the car with present miles and how much it would cost to replace the tranny...subtract that from the book value and that would be what I would ask...USE THE Private Seller value, use this for a gauge! Someone will be willing to buy the car and replace the tranny, especially someone who has owned volvo's

Default location, miles, condition

The car is located in Smyrna, Georgia, has 155,240 miles and is in fair condition.

I appreciate your input.

Kelley Blue Book value for your car is about $3,000. If you're not going to fix it you're basically looking for someone to do you the favor of removing it from your driveway. You should probably advertise it on Craig's list for no more than $1,000.

spend the money and fix it....while it might cost you a couple of grand, in the end it will be worth it with only 155,000 miles on it...my o3 s60 has 178,00 and I have put several thousands into it replacing the ball joints, tie rods as well as having the Dim repaired and a starter, this car will do every bit of 300,00 if you liked the car and it is in good condition do yourself a favor and spend the money to replace the tranny...I do not think you will be sorry!!!
